Results Snapshot

  • Eliminated behavioural barriers that had stalled promotion readiness
  • Transformed a technically strong leader into a trusted people leader
  • Positioned the leader as a role model within the organisation
  • Identified credible pathway from Director readiness toward Vice President potential

Background: A Director (Ishan) within a global mining supply organisation engaged AMC to support the development of one of his direct reports, Chad, a global systems change leader with aspirations to move into a Director role. Ishan had previously experienced the impact of AMC’s one-on-one coaching firsthand and understood its value.

Challenge: While Chad was technically exceptional, his interpersonal approach consistently alienated stakeholders and disengaged colleagues. His leadership style was a clear barrier to promotion, and without meaningful behavioural change, his career progression would stall.

Approach: AMC began with six months of one-on-one executive coaching to build self-awareness, relational capability, and behavioural flexibility. As Chad progressed, his coach identified that layering the Coaching Skills for Leaders (CS4L) program would further embed sustainable leadership behaviours. Chad completed the nine-month CS4L program alongside ongoing coaching.

Impact: Following completion, Ishan reported that all perceived barriers to Chad becoming a Director had been eliminated. Chad was no longer seen as a risk, but as a role model for people leadership. Ishan went further, identifying Chad as having potential beyond Director level, with a credible pathway to Vice President.

Combining coaching and capability-building creates leaders who are not only technically strong, but trusted, influential, and promotable.
