- Shifted a disengaged, distrustful workforce toward ownership and pride in work
- Strengthened frontline culture within a unionised environment
- Developed a young supervisor into a confident leader
- Leader promoted to a higher-level role after successfully transforming the division
Background
A young, high-potential supervisor (Jose) with strong strategic insight but limited leadership experience was managing a unionised, blue-collar workforce characterised by deep distrust toward leadership and the organisation.
Challenge
While Jose had a clear vision, he lacked practical tools to engage the workforce. The division was marked by disengagement, low ownership, and poor morale, limiting performance and outcomes.
Approach
Through six months of one-on-one coaching, Jose developed his leadership identity, learned how to engage through curiosity and accountability, and translated vision into practical, relational action.
Impact
The culture shifted from distrust to ownership. Employees began caring about outcomes, taking pride in their work, and re-engaging with the organisation. Jose left the division stronger than he found it and was subsequently promoted to a higher-level role in another division.
Coaching can develop leaders who shift culture at the front line — where trust, performance, and retention are won or lost.
